An exciting new S1 Brass initiative is to be launched in Denny High School in August 2012. This is a great opportunity for any P7 pupils who would like to learn to play a brass instrument and be part of the new Denny High School Community Band. Lessons will be available throughout the day at school with the Brass Tutor and there will also be group practice sessions and rehearsals run by the Music Department, which will include current pupils.
You will be able to hire a beautiful brand new instrument for as little as £5.00 per month on a minimum hire of 4 months trial, to see if this is the instrument for you. It is hoped that the cost of lessons will be greatly reduced with group tuition minimising the initial costs and making this an opportunity accessible to all.
Letters will be coming home with all P7 Pupils and have to be returned to Primary School ASAP to sign up for this great opportunity, as testing interested pupils for the correct instrument will start on Monday 28 May. This is also open to current S1 pupils, please speak to your Music Teacher if you have not already been tested.
With the history of the Brass and Silver Bands in the Denny and Bonnybridge area, it is planned that this initiative will be opened up to the wider community in the future. So if you have, play or are interested in playing a brass instrument watch press for further details. For further information please do not hesitate to contact the Music Department at Denny High School.
